Another Week!!

Well after this week we are a little more used to our new routine. The girls have some new chores to add to all the school work. In the morning they have to get up, get dressed and make beds. Also after breakfast, Riley has to clear the breakfast table and Macey has to put away clean laundry. After all the chores are finished we start school about 9:00am. This is our goal and we have met it most days but not all of them. Well that's the beauty of homeschooling!! This is my new favorite phrase!!

The girls are learning alot, having fun and learning some of the most important things we can teach our children!! This week Riley has been learning about creation and how our Amazing God created the heavens and earth in 7 days. Macey starts her lesson every morning memorizing a Proverb. This week is Proverbs 9:10 : "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding." They have both been reviewing letters, numbers and letter sounds. Riley made a creation book and Macey made a Jewish calendar. We have painted, cooked, listened to music by Mozart and even make button animals. But most important we have spent this time together!! I am so thankful to be able to home school my girls!! When I first felt the call from God to do this I was so scared!! I couldn't fathom how I could possibly do it. God has given me such patience and so much joy since we have started this journey!!

Painting patterns: this was one of Macey's math activities and of course Riley had to join in!!

One of our button animals. Not sure what animal this is but it had to be pink!!

On Wednesday's we have Exploration Day. This day focuses on science. We have several hands-on projects and spend time outside enjoying God's creation. This week we were studying things close to the ground. Things like moles, worms and ants. One of our projects was to dig up worms, put them in a jar with dirt, cover them with a dark cloth and look at them in a few days to see the changes in the soil. Well we got up to 40 degree temps, we dressed warm and set out to do our experiments. We tried to dig up worms but didn't find any so we decided to go to
Wal-Mart when it warmed up. The girls were so excited to get the worms!! They didn't want any part of touching them for a while but they got used to them and were picking up the whole pile of about 25 worms. It was so funny and they were giggling so loud. They had a ball!!

Look at these brave girlie girls!!
This week has been fun and challenging. I'm sure we will encounter plenty bumps as we continue this new adventure but we know this is God's will for our family. I feel so blessed that God has entrusted this responsibility to me!!
